Hello! I’m Mindy R. Parrish. I live in Columbus, Ohio with my husband and two children, a boy and a girl ages 15 and 8. In addition to reading and blogging I spend a lot of time at home hanging out with my husband and kids. (And the neighborhood kids.) I also spend a lot of time at the grocery store! I like movies, Starbucks, and Gilmore Girls. I love learning new things and seeing new places. Sometimes I do a little cross-stitching or card making.
I love autumn and winter, especially Christmas.
I am currently a stay-at-home parent, but I was at one time a young broke single mother. I have personally experienced (or witnessed first hand) many different types of struggles as well as solutions to those struggles- alcoholism, addiction, mental illness, poverty, therapy, AA and Al-anon.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ohio Dominican University. My few years at Ohio Dominican had a tremendous impact on me and my life that continues to this day. The education I received there was worth every penny even though that degree did not lead to a career as initially intended. I consider it an investment in myself because, yes, I am worth tens of thousands of dollars!
And (I saved the best for last) I love books! Over the years books have been my escape, my comfort, my healers and teachers. This is why I often say “Books saved my life.” Because, really, it’s true- books saved my life.Fiction novels are my favorite but I occasionally read non-fiction as well. When it comes to fiction I’ll read almost anything, I’m not devoted to any one particular genre. As for non-fiction, I gravitate towards self-help, therapy, psychology, and spirituality, anything that helps me grow and become more peaceful and happy.
